Two shows for kids and two shows for adults!
A selection of short marionette, shadow, and experimental puppet shows that are sure to strike a groove; sometimes loud, sometimes quiet, sometimes sad, sometimes silly – the perfect mix!
Side A for families: April 5 & 6, 10:30am
1. Whimsical marionettes in a classic cartoon style deliver nursery rhymes with a twist.
2. The Blacklight Bestiary: A toy theatre highlighting magical creatures that glow!

Side B for mature audiences: April 4 & 5, 7:30pm
Moving wire sculptures, intricate marionettes, and shifting shadows bring life cautionary tales and
hopeful stories.
1. Rime of the Ancient Mariner – With an albatross around his neck, puppeteer/ performer Lyon Hill enacts
the harrowing journey of the Ancient Mariner; lost at sea on a cursed ship piloted by the undead.
2. Goddess of Spring Revisited: A playful look at the myth in a cartoon style with marionettes, rod puppets, and a crankie.

Lyon Forrest Hill (b.1975) lives in Columbia, SC with his two sons, Oliver and Huxley. He has been an
Artistic Director at the Columbia Marionette Theatre since 1998. His work has been featured at
Puppeteers of America National Festivals. His puppet film work earned an UNIMA-USA citation of
excellence.
A life long love of comics, animation, and illustration informs Lyon’s work. He combines many different
puppetry styles to craft stories that explore the magical and the mundane.

You can get a fancy drink at the show: POP UP BARS with Open Spaces. (They donate the proceeds to the puppet theatre – amazing!) Each event bar offers a curated selection of by-the-glass ciders and wines, and a custom cocktail with a boozy and sober option. Open Spaces loves community events! They’ll pop up for music, food pairing events, gallery openings, fundraisers, community gatherings, weddings, and parties.
Featuring farmed and foraged fruit sober drinks and well produced booze from small Finger Lakes cideries and wineries. Focusing on Eve’s Cidery, Redbyrd Cider, Usonia Wine and adding a few collaborators as they go.
