Workshops!

Make your own puppet! We have workshops for kids in schools, libraries and at events such as birthday parties. To see upcoming workshops check out the calendar.

Hand Puppet Workshop

Children will make a hand puppet from provided materials. We bring the fabric puppet body shapes of different colors and designs, as well as yarn, fabric, buttons, beads, markers and other materials to add faces and accessories.

We use hot glue (with assistance) to create original works of art. Then we all learn some basic puppet movements like sneezing, waving, bowing, crying, and getting the hiccups! Children are invited to try their acting skills in the puppet theater! Great for different skill levels!

Shadow Puppet Workshop

Children will see a short shadow demo show that models what shadow puppets can do. Then they use templates, cardstock, tape, pencils and other materials (all provided) to make their own shadow puppet.

They can then test it out in the shadow theater. This workshop is best for children 5+ unless there are some adults to help with cutting out shapes. This workshop can designed for different ages/skills levels with some easy puppets and some more complex 3 piece puppets for older kids.

Simple Marionette Workshop

Children will make a simple marionette using cardboard, paper, string, fabric, and decorating materials.

Pop Up Paper Puppet Workshop

Children will see a short fairy tale show that models a pop-up card set, paper finger puppets and mouth muncher paper puppets. Then they will use paper, scissors, clothes-pins, markers and glue to make their own sets and puppets. All materials provided. This workshop requires access to power for hot glue. Best for children who can use scissors.

Mouth Puppet Workshop

Children can make their own mouth puppet from provided materials.

Kids get to make their own creations from provided recycled and reclaimed materials. After making the puppets, everyone is invited to play with the puppet theater. Puppets are naturals at storytelling so with just a few basic suggestions, we can have a fun show, or just be silly.  Each puppet experience will be different depending on what each group wants to do.

There are many options for puppet building. We can make basic puppets with cardboard and cloth, sew hand puppets with movable mouths or without. We can use hot glue guns, or sewing or something else. The main point is to have fun creating something of your own imagination and sharing it with others.
